Household Haven - End of January
Lot 47:
Vintage Replica Codd Neck Glass Bottles
originally used for carbonated beverages. They feature a marble or ball that sits in a chamber inside the neck of the bottle, which is sealed with a rubber gasket. When the bottle is opened, the marble moves to allow the liquid to flow out, and it seals the bottle again once it’s closed. This design was invented by Richard Codd in the 19th century and was popular for soft drinks and mineral waters. The bottles are collectible due to their unusual mechanism and historical significance.
