Description
From the E. Resnik collection comes this expressive landscape with loose linework and vibrant, natural tones.
The scene depicts a stylized woodland or mountainous stream landscape. On the left, a large rocky cliff rises with multicolored shrubbery at the base. Trees with twisting trunks and loosely sketched outlines surround a reflective body of water, giving the impression of a peaceful valley or riverbank.
The piece is signed in the lower right: appears to be "S.M. Earle" or possibly "Smith Earle", followed by a year that looks like 1957.
