Description
A magnificent 19th-century vanity box, richly crafted with a stunning burr wood exterior and luxurious blue interior. This refined set includes sterling silver-lidded glass jars and an assortment of vanity tools, elegantly housed in fitted compartments. Hidden beneath the dressing table tools lie hidden compartments. A clever hidden mechanism allows the lower drawer to open only when a discreet button, positioned behind the glass jars, is pressed. Additionally, a compartment is cleverly disguised in the lid with a recessed release mechanism.
The lock bears an inscribed maker’s plate reading:
"J.T. Needs, 10 Blenheim Street, New Bond Street, Late I. Bramah, 124 Piccadilly."
A beautiful and rare piece, showcasing Victorian ingenuity and craftsmanship.
