This vintage coach driver’s glass, is referred to as a yard of ale, it is a long, slender drinking vessel made of glass. It was designed to hold an entire yard (3 feet) of ale, making it a showpiece in drinking contests or social gatherings. The glass features a tall, curved shape with a narrow base and flared top. This vessel is marked "17th Century Coach Driver’s Glass" as these glasses were popular during the late 17th century, often used by coach drivers or travelers who stopped at inns. The unique design allowed for a large amount of liquid to be consumed in one continuous, challenging gulp.
