Lot 22:
Limoges Porcelain Collection | 4 Large Plates | Fragonard Courting Couple Miniature Plates, Trinket Box & Clog | Cobalt Blue 22k Gold Trinket Box & Miniature Plate | Pill Box, Miniature Pitcher & More | French Porcelain Collector's Lot
Description
A wonderful and generously varied Limoges porcelain collection that will delight serious collectors of French fine porcelain, comprising marked and attributed Limoges pieces alongside a small number of unmarked complementary items. Limoges porcelain is among the most celebrated, collected and internationally recognised fine china traditions in the world, produced in the Limoges region of France and prized globally for its exceptional quality, refinement and decorative artistry.
The collection is anchored by four large plates (2 in the pansy pattern), two miniature plates and a clog featuring the beloved hand-painted Fragonard courting couple scene, one of the most cherished and actively collected Limoges decorative themes. The cobalt blue pieces decorated with 22k gold Rococo-style scenes, including a lidded trinket box and a miniature plate, are particularly desirable, as cobalt blue and gold Limoges pieces consistently command strong collector prices worldwide.
A round lidded trinket box depicting a pastoral courting couple scene completes the marked Limoges pieces, accompanied by an unmarked pill box, miniature pitcher and small clog or shoe that complement the collection well regardless of attribution.
A rare opportunity to acquire a broad and varied Limoges collection in a single lot, offering outstanding combined collector and display value. Sold as-is, some pieces unmarked as noted, fragile items, viewing strongly recommended.
