Lot 72:
An N. Colombo Italian Earthenware Figural Group Depicting Two Hunters with their dog - Damaged
Description
A hand-painted Italian earthenware figural group in the Capodimonte style, portraying two rustic male characters, commonly referred to as tramps or hobos. The composition features one figure standing in a dishevelled dark jacket, yellow trousers, and a battered hat, while the other is seated wearing a white shirt, red waistcoat, blue trousers, and a yellow neckerchief. The figures are set upon a textured, naturalistic base designed to resemble outdoor ground, incorporating landscape elements and a dog. A long-barrelled rifle and a rifle without its barrel are loose (broken off). The base is signed in hand-painted dark pigment with the name N. Colombo. The piece is characteristic of mid-20th-century decorative ceramics from Italian Lo Scricciolo studios specialising in character studies.
