Lot 27:
An Assortment of Decorative Mixed Media Silvered and Gilt Fruit in a Sculptural Metal Leaf Bowl
Description
A collection of decorative tabletop fruit pieces presented in a circular metal bowl. The bowl is constructed from multiple overlapping, ribbed metal petals arranged in a floral or sunburst form, finished in a dark grey and silver-tone patinated alloy. The assortment of fruit features varied textures and finishes, including a pineapple with a textured silvered body and a gilt-tone crown, a cluster of grapes in silver and gold-tone finishes, and a textured beaded apple with a purple iridescent finish. Also included are several smooth-surfaced fruits comprising a pear, a banana, and two apples, all finished in polished or antiqued silver tones. The smooth surfaces exhibit reflective qualities consistent with silvered glass or polished metal. The construction utilizes a combination of metal, resin, and possibly mercury glass substrates. No maker’s marks, signatures, or country-of-origin labels are visible on the exterior or interior surfaces shown.
