Lot 59:
Heritage Collection Illuminated Terrestrial Floor Globe with Wooden Pedestal Base
Description
A vintage-style illuminated terrestrial globe featuring a parchment-toned sphere mounted on a mahogany-finished wooden floor pedestal. The globe is housed within a graduated bronze-toned meridian ring. The cartography features an antiqued aesthetic with contemporary political boundaries, including the Marshall Islands and Pitcairn (U.K.).
A decorative yellow and green cartouche in the North Pacific is printed with the text HERITAGE COLLECTION. A second matching cartouche in the South Pacific is printed with the title LEGEND and includes the SCALE 1:41,849,600, stating one inch equal 666 miles. The legend further details symbols for capitals and town populations ranging from below 100,000 to over 1,000,000 inhabitants. The map is decorated with nautical illustrations, including a multi-masted sailing ship. The meridian ring is graduated in degrees of latitude, with visible markings for 60, 70, and 80 degrees. The unit is fitted with a black power cord for internal illumination.
Untested, for sale as is.
