Lot 68:
Two Giuseppe Armani Florence Sculture d’Arte Polychrome Bird Sculptures
Description
A pair of Italian cold-cast porcelain bird sculptures by Giuseppe Armani for Florence Sculture d’Arte. The first sculpture depicts two herons or cranes standing amidst marsh reeds on a textured rocky outcrop. The figures feature a matte polychrome finish in shades of grey, white, and tan. An incised signature reading G. Armani is located on the ceramic base, and a silver-tone metal plaque reading G. Armani in script is fixed to the front of the rectangular dark wood plinth. The second sculpture depicts a parrot, consistent with a Scarlet Macaw, perched upon a textured tree stump decorated with green leaves and red berries. It is finished in matte polychrome glazes of orange, red, green, and yellow. An incised signature reading G. Armani is present on the lower portion of the stump. The figure is mounted on a circular dark wood plinth. Both pieces were produced using a composite of resin and marble dust.
