Lot 69:
A Giuseppe Armani Capodimonte Porcelain Figural Group of Two Children at a Well Dated 1981
Description
A glazed porcelain figural group depicting a rustic scene of a boy and girl at a well, mounted on a circular turned wood base. The composition features a young girl standing and holding a ceramic pitcher, peering into the well, while a boy seated on the edge operates a bucket and pulley system suspended from an archway. The scene is finished with hand-painted details to the facial features and a textured green and white landscape base decorated with small applied ceramic flowers. This is a rare piece, especially in this state of preservation. An incised script signature on the front right of the porcelain base reads G. Armani. On the opposite side of the base, there is a printed black mark reading © 1981 G. ARMANI. A small blue mark consisting of a crown above a capital N is located on the rear of the well structure, corresponding to the Capodimonte-style mark used by the Florence Sculture d’Arte studio.
